On June 27, 1977, an intruder entered Glensheen, the stately Duluth manor built along the Lake Superior shore. Before leaving with a basketful of stolen jewelry, the intruder used a satin pillow to smother Elisabeth Congdon and Velma Pietila. Together with former Duluth News-Tribune crime reporter Gail Feichtinger, Duluth Police Detective Gary Waller and St. Louis County Prosecutor John DeSanto the men who investigated and prosecuted Marjorie and her husband, Roger Caldwell bring readers behind the scenes of the Minnesota s most infamous double murder. Feichtinger then reaches beyond the Glensheen killings to follow Marjorie through her convictions for arson and presents new evidence that suggests that Marjorie may have gotten away with murder five times.

"Will to Murder" was a good book but it's a very, very, very complex story!! There are many people and places involved! I am thankful I was reading it on my Kindle so I could easily do a word search for certain names and places when I was confused. I found that it was not particularly "relaxing" to read because I had to concentrate as to who was doing what, where and when it was being done. You certainly get your money's worth because there are 4+ investigations and trials in this one long book (I actually lost count towards the end). In the middle of the book there are many interesting photos that I enjoyed looking at BUT...if you read all the captions that go with the pictures they give away what happens in most of the rest of the book. There should have been a "spoiler alert"!. So, when you get to the pictures, I suggest you look at the captions only to find out who is in the picture but don't read the entire caption or you will learn information about the story before it happens which was a real bummer for me. In the final pages there are some great drawings of the mansion's floor plan that are very helpful in understanding what the place looked like back then.Though complex, the story of Marjorie and her life is quite intriguing and interesting. I would definitely recommend the book to other true crime buffs!
